The Egyptian vulture is famed for the ingenious way it cracks open tough ostrich eggs: by launching rocks at them Eggs are just one of the many items on the menu for this opportunistic scavenger and occasional predator. It can spot a potential meal from a kilometer away, and will even eat scraps rejected by other scavengers. Bu it can't stomach poisoning, poaching, human persecution and electrocution on non-insulated power lines, all of which are decimating populations of this rare tool-using bird.
