The ultimate commuter? The loggerhead turtle travels vast distances in its lifetime, including transoceanic voyages as long as 12,000 kilometers from breeding to feeding areas. The prodigious swimmer's diet is also wide-ranging, from algae to hard-shelled creatures like conches. But as the oceans become more polluted, the turtle is increasingly ingesting harmful plastics as well. Light pollution is another major problem as it can disorient hatchlings emerging on the beach and prevent them from finding the water.
